ST. JOSEPH SCHOOL 865 Roosevelt Ave. Carteret, N.J. 07008 Tel: 732-541-7111 Dear Parents / Guardians, Attached please find your registration packet for the upcoming 2010–2011 academic year. We thank you for choosing St. Joseph School and sharing God’s precious gift with us – your children. Your support of Catholic education is greatly appreciated. The cooperation of paying tuition on time and support of fund raising activities for the Home School Association is of great assistance in administrating the School. The tuition you pay for is a substantial portion of educating your child. The difference is made up primarily by a subsidy from Saint Joseph Parish and by various fund raising activities sponsored by our hard-working H.S.A. Sunday Mass is the focal point of our Catholic faith. Your continued attendance at Sunday Mass makes St. Joseph Parish a great community of faith. A good Catholic education is promoted by Christian values, prayer, and example. Therefore, we encourage you to please make every effort to grow in greater intimacy with Christ by coming to Mass each week and going to Confession as needed. For those who are new to St. Joseph School, we extend to you a warm welcome into our school family. For both new families and those returning for another school year, we offer our committed support and interest in offering quality and excellence in the education of your child(ren). Any family who would like to apply to the Diocese and Saint Joseph Parish for financial assistance, please request a Financial Assistance Form from the School Office. Thank you.
Filing this (application/registration) form should not be deemed
acceptance to St. Joseph School. An application will not be considered
complete until all the necessary paper work has been submitted,
including immunization records.
No child
shall be admitted to St. Joseph School without proper proof that the
child has been immunized as required by the laws of the State of New
Jersey, N.J.S.A.26:1A-9. Proper immunization is a condition of
admission to the School. No requests for religious exemptions will be
considered.
St. Joseph School provides the environment necessary to foster the
Catholic faith, challenge to academic excellence and build leadership
qualities for the future of the Catholic Church and society.
COMMITMENT LETTER
Participation in the communal celebration of the Sunday Mass is a
testimony of belonging and of being faithful to Christ and to His Church.
The faithful give witness by this to their communion in faith and
charity. Together they testify to God’s holiness and their hope of
salvation. They strengthen one another under the guidance of the Holy
Spirit.
I agree to use my Church envelopes at Mass throughout the
calendar year as a means for the Pastor, Principal and the School
Committee to review Mass attendance on Sundays and Holy Days of
obligation.
If
there is a problem with Mass attendance, the Administrator and the
Principal reserve the right not to accept my child(ren) into
St. Joseph
School for the
following academic year and that my child(ren) could be removed this year.
WHEN I SIGN THIS COMMITMENT I
ACCEPT MY OBLIGATIONS AS A PRACTICING CATHOLIC.

HOME SCHOOL ASSOCIATION PARENT PARTICIPATION COMMITMENT
Close cooperation between the home and school is most
important. To help achieve this, there is a Home School Association (H.S.A.)
at St. Joseph School. The purpose of H.S.A. activities is to aid in the
financial support of our School and promote a sense of community. In
order that this aim be accomplished, it is necessary that all
parents/guardians contribute to and support all activities. The H.S.A.
goal for the 2010-2011 academic year is $60,000. This helps to offset the
financial obligation of both the family and the parish.
I (We) promise to support the Home School Association (H.S.A.)
and make a commitment to actively participate in fund raising efforts and
other such activities in order to ensure quality and excellence in the
education of our children. In addition to the $25.00 H.S.A. yearly dues
per family, I (we) understand that each school family is also responsible
for participation in at least four specific fund raising activities
throughout the academic year.

SCRIP PROGRAM
This is a program where
store vouchers are purchased at face value with a percentage of the total
purchase being returned to the School. This is a great way for our School
to earn additional funds at no extra cost to you (example: You pay $20.00
and you receive $20.00 in scrip). Instead of using cash, you use the
scrip to make your purchases. This program has the potential for being a
very profitable fundraiser. Each family is responsible for purchasing
$2,000 in scrip over the course of a year. At least half this
amount must be purchased by the end of the second marking period with the
remaining amount to be purchased by the end of the school year.
